WiDI is a MIDI sequencer and control surface designed for playing sequences and creating controls like pads, knobs, and faders to send MIDI events.

A sequence in WiDI can encompass multiple tracks and send notes to various MIDI channels. Sequences in WiDI can be played in sync or independently, with the option to group them together for simultaneous activation.

Controls in WiDI are associated with a MIDI channel and a specific Control Change number. Users have the flexibility to specify the CC number or allow the application to learn it. Once placed on the surface, controls can be used to interact with MIDI devices. Furthermore, any CC event sent by the device will be visually displayed by the relevant control.

Pads serve as unique controls in WiDI, capable of producing either CC Events or Notes. When bound to a CC, a pad functions as an on/off switch with customizable values for each state. If bound to a note, each tap triggers the specified MIDI note. This feature is particularly beneficial for operating MIDI instruments without keyboards such as synthesizer modules or drum machines.

For MIDI message exchange with instruments or devices, WiDI supports CoreMIDI or the WiDI protocol. If a MIDI interface is directly supported by CoreMIDI, WiDI can integrate with it seamlessly.

• Utilize CoreMIDI's Network Sessions for wireless interfacing between WiDI and MIDI software like sequencers on your computer.
• To enable CoreMIDI, connect to a MIDI Network Session on your Mac or PC. On macOS, this feature is native and requires no additional installation. However, Windows users may need to install rtpMIDI.
• Alternatively, for direct interfacing between WiDI and MIDI instruments/devices linked to your Mac or PC, employ the WiDI Desktop Application. This serves as a MIDI bridge between the network and your hardware while allowing installation on multiple computers at no cost.
